Election Interference Sparks Rise Of The Resistance!
Putin/Trump Troll bots created a disinformation campaign in 2016 sparking the rise of The Resistance and creating heroes out of ordinary Americans.
After Trump’s election in 2016, Americans realized that action needed to be taken to combat Putin/Trump Bots flooding social media.
Putin’s troll bots famously flooded social media with lies and disinformation that supported Trump while trashing Clinton.
During the 2016 election, Putin-backed trolls worked by creating division between Bernie Saunders and Hillary Clinton supporters, spreading lies about Clinton’s health and inflating the “Oh but her emails” nonsense.
This sparked the grassroots rise of The Resistance. The Resistance has been effective in combating the Putin/Trump disinformation campaign leading to the Democrats famous Blue Wave win in 2018, where they took back the House of Representatives.
The House—headed by Speaker Nancy Pelosi—has given ordinary Americans a voice in government again. It has also providing much needed oversight of the swampy Trump administration.
The Resistance is continuing to work hard in an effort to save healthcare for 23 million Americans by flipping four Senate seats Democratic and electing Joe Biden as President.
I reached out to two dedicated Resisters to ask what inspired them to donate their time to The Resistance movement on Social Media:
@BostonJudy3 states, “After the election in 2016, I saw things more clearly, almost like a screen was lifted. True evil and malevolence has sabotaged all levels of our democracy. That a group of powerful people were trying to steal it, enraged me. So, I went to war, with every tool I have and never looked back.”
@SadieTNResist shares, “When I first got on Twitter it was to talk to family and friends. Then Trump came on the scene and people were intrigued by him. Well it didn’t take long for me to realize that he was not my kind of leader. He talked down to women calling them awful names. He made fun of the disabled and talked badly to POC and immigrants. I decided right then to try to keep him from becoming the 45th. I started reaching out to others on social media to see if they could help me get people involved in their local and state elections. It’s vital to have boots on the ground, but it’s going to be harder to do that with the COVID19 pandemic this election. Everyone can still do their part by getting behind a candidate to do phone-banking and sending out postcards. We have a chance to flip the senate blue, add more Democrats to the house, and make Trump one- term. Every vote matters and every voice needs to be heard. We have a lot at stake this election. We may have two Supreme Court seats open and that could change the rights of women, LGBTQ, workers, elections and health care. Social Media has become even more important with social distancing. So I will be all over Twitter trying to make my voice heard and I hope I can motivate people to get involved to do the same. We won’t be silenced.”
It’s really inspiring to see ordinary folks become extraordinary heroes. Join The Resistance by using #Resist and Share this now.
