Did Roger Stone Incited Trump Supporters to Attack the Capitol?
Roger Stone is on track to be charged with Contempt of Congress.
Updated 12/18/21
Friday, Roger Stone showed at to the January 6 Committee to plead the 5th Amendment.
However, Stone can’t claim his answers to questions would tend to incriminate him to order to avoid a subpoena AND then turn around to hold a press conference declaring he did nothing wrong.
Stone will be charged with Contempt of Congress.
In February, The Washington Post reported both Department of Justice and the FBI were investigating ties between Stone, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones of Info Wars, and Capitol rioters.
Jones and Stone are reportedly being investigated over their role in inciting and organizing the January 6 attack on the Capitol.
Let’s examine Stone’s movements leading up to the January 6, 2021 attack on America’s Capitol.
On December 23, 2020, Donald Trump pardoned Stone. Stone had been indicted and found guilty on “one count of obstruction, five counts of false statements, and one count of witness tampering.”
On December 29, just 6 days after being pardoned, Stone posts on Parler (photo via @PatriotTakes) that he met with Trump to discuss how to steal Joe Biden’s election win.
Here is Stone’s post from Parler:
On December 25, Ali Alexander, the “Stop the Steal” organizer posts, “This is something Roger and I have been planning for a long time. And finally, he’s off the leash. So, you know, it’s a knife fight and your two knife fighters are Ali Alexander and Roger Stone, and you either fight with us or you get slashed. So, I’ll let you guys know more about what that means as we evolve.”
On January 5 in the afternoon, Stone spoke at the “One Nation Under God Prayer Rally” in front of the Supreme Court.
Fun Fact: It was later learned that “One Nation Under God” was a fake name to deceive Capitol police into issuing a permit for the “Stop the Steal” rally.
Stone talks about “a fight for the future of western civilization as we know it” and makes a promise to be with the mob on January 6 “shoulder to shoulder.” Other speakers included Jones and Gen. Michael Flynn.
On January 5 in the evening, Stone speaks a second time at the “Rally to Save America.” He speaks about an epic struggle between “dark and light, between the godly and the godless, between good and evil.” He continues saying, “we will win this fight or America will step off into a thousand years of darkness.” He thanks Ali Alexander.
Again, Stone promises the mob that he will be with them the next day “shoulder to shoulder.”
Press release (per WUSA9) states that the “March for Trump” was to feature speakers from “Women for America First, Congressional Representatives, Roger Stone, Julio Gonzalez, Rudy Giuliani, and Diamond and Silk.” Trump is scheduled to speak at 11am.
Trump said during his speech, he would walk with the rioters to the Capitol, saying, “I’ll be there with you.”
On January 6, Stone is a no-show at the Ellipse at the “March for Trump” rally. He was supposed to be present in the VIP section. Although Stone promised the rioters he would be “shoulder to shoulder” with them, he didn’t go. Like Trump, he would not keep his promise to go to the Capitol with the rioters.
Stone has denied his role in inciting the mob to attack the Capitol. He, instead, insinuates it was the FBI or the Secret Service behind the insurrection.
Stone’s Everchanging Stories
Stone has repeatedly changed his story about his whereabouts on January 6.
On January 16, Stone posts to Instagram the reason that he did not show up to walk “shoulder to shoulder” to the Capitol as promised was because he “wasn’t interested in doing any of those things.” He claims he “left town while demonstrators were still, to my astonishment, inside the Capitol.”
On January 26, Stone changes his story in a text to Vice, claiming he never left his hotel room “at all on January 6.” He also claims he knew nothing about the January 6 attack.
However, on February 5, Stone was reportedly caught in a lie when ABC News unearthed video footage of him surrounded by Oath Keepers OUTSIDE the Willard Hotel the day of the attack. This proves he did leave his hotel.
Video taken on January 6, the day of the Capitol riot, shows Roger Stone hanging out with Trump supporters outside the Willard Hotel.
Stone can be seen taking photos and talking with supporters, flanked by Oath Keepers. Two of the Oath Keepers reportedly went on to attack the Capitol and one has been arrested.

In the months following the attack, the FBI arrested over 400 rioters. Stone, Alexander, Jones, and Trump have yet to be charged.
Stone denies any involvement in the insurrection. However, his efforts to plead the 5th Amendment will lead to a Contempt of Congress charge.
