Is Susan Collins Clutching Her Pearls About Kavanaugh's Decision To Vote Against LGBTQ Protections?

Susan Collins is reportedly clutching her pearls about Trump’s decision to do away with protections for transgender patients. She said it was “simply wrong.” She also claims that she supports the Supreme Court decision on Monday to prevent employers from discriminating against LGBTQ employees.
So how does this line up with what her choice for the Supreme Court a.k.a. Justice Brett Kavanaugh did in this case? Spoiler alert, it doesn’t.
Kavanaugh wasn’t satisfied to just be one of the three to dissent on this case, he had to write his own personal dissent. Kavanaugh wrote that the majority on the Supreme Court was making "a mistake of history and sociology."
Since Kavanaugh promised that he wouldn’t discriminate against the LGBTQ community, Collins must be very concerned.
Fun Fact: Collins cast the deciding vote in favor of putting Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court for his lifetime despite allegations against him for sexual violence.
Susan Collins Is A Problem
After lots of worry and concern, Collins nearly always does Trump and McConnell’s bidding.
After she voted not to hear witnesses in Trump’s impeachment trial, she proceeded to vote to acquit him from his crimes. Now that John Bolton’s book has revealed devastating accounts of Trump begging China’s president to help him win in 2020, Americans are wondering why Bolton wasn’t called as a witness by the Senate.
After Collin acquitted Trump—with no witnesses—she proudly spoke from the Senate floor saying, “I do not believe the House has met its burden that the President’s conduct, however flawed, warrants the extreme step of immediate removal from office. This decision is not about whether you like or dislike this president or agree or oppose his policies or approve or disapprove of his conduct in other circumstances. Rather, it is about whether the charges meet the very high constitutional standard of treason, bribery, or other high crimes or misdemeanors.”
After making her self-serving speech Collins told Norah O’Donnell of CBS, “I believe the President has learned from this case.”
Of course, Trump immediately proved that he had not learned. When asked about Collin’s comments, Trump said, “The call was perfect,” when describing the phone call in which he tried to bribe and extort Ukraine’s President Zelensky.
All of Collin’s fake concern and worry may be finally catching up with her.
Democrat Sara Gideon outraised Collins in the first quarter of 2020 according to filings with the Federal Election Commission.
Fun Fact: Less that 1% of the funds Collins raised came from the people of Maine.
Elect Sara Gideon
In contrast, 96% of Gideon’s campaign donations came from small-dollar donors who contributed $100 or less.
Sara Gideon made healthcare and affordable drug prices her primary campaign issue. She is pro-choice and a women’s champion. She helped pass legislation to keep women’s reproductive healthcare both affordable and accessible.
Maine’s Senate race hangs on whether voters believe Susan Collins is a true moderate or if they believe Collins is just another Trump/McConnell Toady.
Democrats need to pick up four Senate Seats to remove McConnell as Senate Majority Leader and get America working for regular folks.
