LEAVING TWITTER? Post, Tribel and Counter Social Reviews for YOU
Blue checkmarks are meaningless because Twitter is awarding gold and gray checkmarks. Soon, in my opinion, a different colored checkmark will be awarded to celebrities, CEOs, and mostly white men.
We have all noticed that people are leaving Twitter in droves. I’ve seen multiple users stressing because they’re watching their follower count drop. Mine has dropped by several thousand people. I suspect it will continue to drop as Elon Musk continues to spew QANON/Putin talking points.
I said I was staying on Twitter unless Donald Trump is reinstated, I am de-boosted, or I continue to be attacked by Russian troll bots. With Musk reinstating Trump and Roger Stone, I have one foot out the door.
Multiple advertisers have also been leaving Twitter. It’s hard to see a platform that we all loved dying. The layoffs Musk has implemented have taken away important guard rails that insured a safe, free, and fair social media platform.
People who purchase blue verified checkmarks are literally supporting racism, misogyny, and anti-LGBTQ rhetoric which is spewed daily by Musk, multiple troll bots, and just flat out trolls.
We have all heard about the massive layoffs on Twitter — this is leading to a lot of Russian troll bots (posing as Americans) infiltrating the site. Musk is not brilliant and he is not playing 3-D chess, in my opinion. In my opinion, Musk is focused on ushering in the demise of democracy so that he can become an oligarch.
The Blue Verified check mark is absolutely meaningless, because now the checkmark to get is either gold or gray.
By making the Blue checkmark available to everyone, Twitter has disenfranchised hundreds of journalists, mostly women. I believe this was intentional on Musk’s part. Women were originally excluded from getting verified because women didn’t make up the vast majority of either CEOs or politicians. Jack Dorsey try to rectify this on his way out by verifying journalist and, therefore, including more women. Now, legacy verified accounts have a checkmark that says they may or may not be notable.

Fun Fact: I cannot find my account on Mastodon — I cannot in good conscience recommend this platform for former Twitter lovers.
REVIEWS OF POST, TRIBEL & COUNTER SOCIAL:
I’ve been on all three platforms for days to months — here are my opinions, so far.
One, Post is by far the easiest to use. It’s easy to find Twitter friends and new friends to follow you. And, I have not run into any follow limits.
Post seems genuinely interested in having its users connect with each other. Post does have a waiting list, but it was less than a week from when I signed up to when I was allowed onto the site — so it’s waiting list is moving very quickly. Also, Post has an edit button AND it’s absolutely 💯 free.
Two, I also like Tribel Social. I was able to form a democratic activist group (similar to what we have on Twitter) called Dems4USA. There are no extra extra charges to be on the Tribel site or to begin a group. You can find me @TheSizzleReport on Tribel. For those of you who are concerned about your data being sold on Tribel, consider that the Saudi‘s own Twitter along with Musk— so who really has access to your information?
Three, Counter Social is a decent platform. It runs fairly smoothly and it’s easy to post. But, I found is much harder to connect with people compared to Post and Tribel. Counter Social also has multiple “pro” feature charges. This is a turn-off as charging extra fees favors people who are well to do.
Equality on a Social Media platform is important, so that everyone’s voice is heard. You can find me on Counter Social @TheSizzleReport.
Save Your Money: Paying extra for a Blue check mark makes it completely meaningless, especially now that gold and gray checkmarks are being awarded to certain accounts. I predict that another color check mark will be created in a few months (after Musk has sold lots of blue checkmarks.) These will be awarded to celebrities, CEOs, and mostly white men.
Finally, let’s discuss Mastodon. You can find me there @SizzleReport. This site is reputable. However, Mastodon has their platform divided into MANY sub-platforms — this makes it hard to connect with other people. In other words, if you’re looking for your friends on Twitter, they are much harder to find on Mastodon.
Please let me know what you think about these platforms in the comment section below and Subscribe now so we can keep in touch.
LEAVING TWITTER? Post, Tribel and Counter Social Reviews for YOU
I was accepted for Post but cannot find an app on Amazon for it.
From my few weeks' limited use of Post, Tribel, and Counter Social, I agree with your descriptions. I'd like to like Counter Social but navigating it doesn't seem intuitive - I've actually printed out its manual (and keep putting off reading) - an indication of how much it doesn't just make sense to me. Tribel & Post seem easy and are organized (at least visually) very similarly to TW so they feel comfortable not challenging. I'm impressed with Post's care & feeding of its users. Tribel has a sort of post/meme creator feature that's nice. Of course none of them has the great access (via accounts & handles) to all public people and entities, the most valuable & irreplaceable aspect of Twitter.
