Ivanka Trump has touted her influence with her father Donald Trump over the past few years. She has taken center stage in the Trump White House on issues such as paid family leave.
However, the president’s niece Mary Trump disputes the notion of Ivanka having influence over Donald Trump as nonsense. Moreover, she describes her cousin Ivanka as an enabler of the president.
In an interview with the Washington Post, Mary Trump spoke at length about Ivanka and her influence on Donald Trump.
She stated, "She doesn't do anything. She spouts bromides on social media, but either she tries to have an impact and fails, or just isn't interested in having an impact.”
Mary Trump continued, “I can't think of one thing she's done to show that she's moderate or a moderating influence."
She went on to describe the roles of Ivanka and her husband Jared Kushner—who are both Senior Advisors to the president—as similar to the way Fred Trump enabled his Donald throughout his life.
Unlike other books about Donald Trump, Mary Trump is the president’s niece. She is also a psychologist and is able to provide clinical assessments of the president’s actions and behavior.
Mary Trumps book “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man” paints a devastating portrait of Donald Trump as a racist and misogynist.
Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have reportedly profited from their time as Senior Advisors to Donald Trump. According to their financial forms, their companies and investment portfolios netted them somewhere between $29 million and $130 million last year.
