On Tuesday, Rep. Mikie Sherrill posted a livestream making the shocking allegation that she witnessed members of Congress giving tours on January 5th—one day before Trump terrorists attacked the Capitol.
Fun Fact: Tours of the Capitol have NOT been permitted since March due to coronavirus concerns.
More than 30 members of Congress penned a letter requesting a full investigation.
The letter states, “Many of the Members who signed this letter, including those of us who have served in the military and are trained to recognize suspicious activity, as well as various members of our staff, witnessed an extremely high number of outside groups in the complex on Tuesday, January 5. This is unusual for several reasons, including the fact that access to the Capitol Complex has been restricted since public tours ended in March of last year due to the pandemic.”'
The letter continues, “The tours being conducted on Tuesday, January 5, were a noticeable and concerning departure from the procedures in place as of March 2020 that limited the number of visitors to the Capitol. These tours were so concerning that they were reported to the Sergeant at Arms on January 5. The visitors encountered by some of the Members of Congress on this letter appeared to be associated with the rally at the White House the following day. That group left the White House and marched to the Capitol with the objective of preventing Congress from certifying our election.”
The letter notes that, “Members of the group that attacked the Capitol seemed to have an unusually detailed knowledge of the layout of the Capitol Complex. The presence of these groups within the Capitol Complex was indeed suspicious.”
Ties between lawmakers and the tour groups need to be investigated.
It’s unknown who Shirrell and others saw giving tours.
Lauren Boebert’s Twitter Feed
Many are asking why Rep. Lauren Boebert was Tweeting out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s location during the attack. This was despite being explicitly told not to do this.
The morning of the attack, Boebert also Tweeted out “Today is 1776.”
Some believe that Twitter may have suspended Boebert because she possibly used her position to direct rioters toward the Capitol, while others believe it is because she Tweeted out the position of Pelosi during the attack.
Boebert owns Shooters Grill, a restaurant in Rifle, CO. where employees are encouraged to open carry guns. She has bragged repeatedly about carrying a gun into the Capitol—despite the fact that this is NOT permitted.
On Monday, Boebert reportedly refused to walk through metal detectors, leading many to speculate she was carrying a firearm.
Congressman Eric Swalwell says, “Lauren Boebert was told by the Sergeant of Arms in the chamber to not make any social media posts.... repeatedly. She defied it because she is more closely aligned with the terrorists than the patriots.”
It’s unknown if Boebert gave tours of the Capitol. However, her Twitter posts during the attack warrant further investigation.
