Sinema and Manchin are Feeling the Heat
Democrats will not stand by silently while Republicans work to destroy our democracy.
Senator Kyrsten Sinema can’t stop talking about the filibuster. She wants American’s to believe that she won’t pass it. In truth, she is begging everyone to stop pressuring her.
However, Democrats will not stand by silently while Republicans work to destroy our democracy.
Senator Joe Manchin is also hoping Democrats will not notice that he has no authentic objections to the For the People Act. In fact, Manchin made an agreement to vote yes on Tuesday, though, as expected, the Bill will still fall short of advancing.
Americans Must Defeat Dark Money
The Koch-backed effort to block the largest election-reform bill in fifty years can be defeated.
On a leaked call, leaders of dark-money groups along with a Mitch McConnell aid, expressed frustration over how popular the voting rights legislation is with most Americans, including Republicans.
Let us say it again for the people in the back: The For the People Act is popular even with Republicans!
According to the New Yorker, the participants on the call “conceded that the bill, which would stem the flow of dark money from such political donors as the billionaire oil magnate Charles Koch, was so popular that it wasn’t worth trying to mount a public-advocacy campaign to shift opinion.”
The US Chamber of Commerce joined Koch efforts to craft state laws to favor corporations. The Chamber receives substantial funding from the Koch Network. Americans will not stand by silently while dark money buys our lawmakers.
As for Sinema, ignore her nonsense about not wanting to end the filibuster. She and Manchin are begging Americans to decrease pressure on them. However, democracy dies in darkness.
Keep fighting for democracy, hold Sinema’s feet to the fire, and make sure Manchin also feels the heat.
