United States Postmaster General Louis DeJoy’s former employees state they were pressured to donate to Republican candidates and then reimbursed. This is a straw donor scheme and it’s against the law.
According to a recent Washington Post report, DeJoy pressured employees of his former business, New Breed Logistics, to donate to Republicans candidates. Then, he then would reimburse their contributions using business bonuses.
It is being reported that DeJoy’s rise in the GOP was fueled by his corrupt donations using his company's workers.
DeJoy was also caught slowing down the mail to make absentee voting harder in an apparent effort to rig the election for Donald Trump and other Republicans.
He actions of slowing the mail have harmed many Americans. DeJoy may be subject to a massive class action lawsuit.
Last month, North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein wrote: “My statement on today’s @washingtonpost story ‘Louis DeJoy’s rise as GOP fundraiser was powered by contributions from co. workers who were later reimbursed, former employees say.’
Stein continued, “It is against the law to directly or indirectly reimburse someone for a political contribution. Any credible allegations of such actions merit investigation by the appropriate state and federal authorities. Beyond this, it would be inappropriate for me as Attorney General to comment on any specific matter at this time.“
@BarbMcQuade Tweeted, “Use of straw donors to conceal violations of campaign contribution limits is a crime. If reporting is accurate, conduct lasted until 2016. Statute of limitations won’t run until 2021. This is the crime of which Dinesh D’Souza, among others, was convicted.“
@myhlee posted, “Although it can be permissible to encourage employees to make donations, reimbursing them for those contributions is a violation of North Carolina and federal election law, known as a straw-donor scheme.”
Many are saying that DeJoy used the United States Postal Service to tamper with the election — this is a felony. Using a straw donor scheme to fund candidates is another felony.
If this is true, DeJoy can be indicted on multiple state charges in North Carolina. Will other states indict him for tampering with their mail?
Trump can’t pardon DeJoy from state crimes so DeJoy may find himself on the receiving end of indictments and lawsuits as soon as Trump leaves office.
Never forget that Trump and DeJoy tried to hijack our free and fair elections!
