New York Prosecutors are fighting to get their hands on Donald Trump’s tax returns.
Prosecutors went before the judge on Monday and explained that they were justified because of public reports of “extensive and protracted criminal conduct at the Trump organization.”
Meet Manhattan District Attorney District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance, Jr.
He is seeking eight years of Trump’s personal and business tax records.
It appears that Trump is being investigated for bank fraud and insurance scams. These are serious felonies.
Initially, the public believed that Trump was being investigated for the payments made by Trump’s personal attorney and former fixer Michael Cohen to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal. Now, it seems that Trump is also being investigated for multiple felony violations.
It turns out that Vance is conducting more than just a criminal investigation into Trump’s hush-money payments..
Vance has a history of aggressively pursuing fraud and white-collar crime. Even AG Bill Barr can’t save Trump from the state of New York.
Vance digging deep into the Trump family business with a grand jury impaneled is terrible news for Trump.
Vance stated last month, “Our investigation, which was delayed for almost a year by this lawsuit, will resume, guided as always by the grand jury’s solemn obligation to follow the law and the facts, wherever they may lead.”
Wherever They May Lead
Wherever they may lead indicates that Trump’s fortune and freedom could be in jeopardy.
Recall that Michael Cohen stated, "It was my experience that Mr. Trump inflated his total assets when it served his purposes, such as trying to be listed among the wealthiest people in Forbes, and deflated his assets to reduce his real estate taxes.”
Now it seems that Vance is vigorously investigating tax and insurance fraud with a grand jury already empaneled. This could spell indictments and jail time for Trump and his three eldest children.
