On Thursday during an interview on Fox, Donald Trump openly admitted that he opposes funding the United States Postal Service because he wants to slow down mail-in voting in the 2020 election.
Trump stated, “Now they need that money in order to make the post office work, so it can take all of these millions and millions of ballots. But if they don’t get those two items, that means you can’t have universal mail-in voting, because they’re not equipped to have it.”
Sneaky Trump
Trump has spent months lying on social media about mail-in voting being illegal. Meanwhile, Trump has been secretly sending information to his supporters on how to mail-in their ballots.
Confirmed Sabotage
The president of the Postal Workers Union confirmed that the USPS is being sabotaged.
Trump openly bragging about attacking the postal service to rig the election in his favor. This means that everyone needs to take action to prevent Trump from rigging the election.
Mitch McConnell Benefits From Trump’s Cheating
Trump’s cheating admission explains why Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has shown no interest in passing any stimulus package that involves protecting mail-in voting or the USPS—McConnell directly benefits from Trump’s cheating.
McConnell’s wife Elaine Chao is Trump’s United States Secretary of Transportation. McConnell’s finances are directly tied to Trump’s presidency.
McConnell is so confident in Trump’s cheating that he left stimulus package negotiations to go home early—because doing nothing for Americans is hard work.
Meanwhile, Canadians are receiving $2000 a month in coronavirus relief funding.
Fun Fact: The House passed the “Heroes Act” in May that provided $25 billion dollar over three years to the USPS. It also provided stimulus checks of up to $6000 per household. McConnell refused to put it to a vote.
Americans Are Outraged
@RepAdamSchiff Tweeted, “Has there ever been a president so utterly devoid of scruple, so naked in his ambition to steal an election? Trump is so terrified of losing that he'll take the entire system down with him. Our post office. Our elections. Our very democracy. His depravity is boundless.”
@NatashaBertrand posted, “In many cases, these are the same machines that would be tasked with sorting ballots, calling into question promises made by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy that the USPS has 'ample capacity' to handle the predicted surge in mail-in ballots.”
@RepJeffries Tweeted, “It’s now clear. The effort to destroy the Post Office is part of a continuing conspiracy to steal the election. From the most corrupt administration in American history. The entire crime family must be held accountable.”
@AOC posted, “It’s not just Trump that‘s destroying the US Post Office. It’s the entire Republican Party. Senate & House GOP could easily override a Trump veto of postal funding and help oversight. Republicans are working with Trump to destroy the USPS and sabotage the delivery of ballots.”
What Can We Do?
We are not powerless. Everyone needs to work together to spread the word to all Democratic voters that mail-in ballots must be sent in by October 22nd. If their state doesn’t have mail-in ballots, they can get an absentee ballot. Go to vote.org today.
Text your family, friends and neighbors to let them know that their ballots need to be mailed by October 22nd
Spread the word on social media and add the hashtag #VoteByOctober22 to ALL your posts
Volunteer to make calls for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris
@TedLieu Tweeted, “This should be plan A, B & C: Massive education to voters ASAP that they need to mail their ballot at least 10 mailing days in advance of Nov 3, which would be Oct 22. The stark reality is the House cannot adequately fund USPS without the consent of Trump.”
