Trump Organization Facing 15 Indictments, Weisselberg Charged!
Will Eric Trump and Don Junior be indicted too?
The Manhattan District Attorney is criminally indicting the Trump Organization. Trump Organization COO Allen Weisselberg was also charged. He is facing years in prison.
Prosecutors allege a 15-year scheme to evade taxes. The charges include 15 felony counts.
Weisselberg surrendered his passport after pleading “not guilty.”
Fun Fact: Donald Trump reportedly refused to give Weisselberg a pardon.
A grand jury in Manhattan filed criminal indictments on Wednesday against Trump's company and its longtime chief financial officer.
Prosecutors have been reportedly working to get Mathew Calamari to flip and testify against Trump and Allen Weisselberg.
When Trump became president, he appointed his two oldest sons, Eric Trump and Don Jr., to run the company with Weisselberg. This leaves many pundits speculating that they, along with the former president, may also face criminal charges.
Trump and the Trump Organization were being investigated to determine if he overvalued some assets and undervalued others for financial benefit, tax evasion, and tax fraud.
The Trump Organization violated tax laws by gifting its employees’ extras like tuition payments to private schools, free cars, and discounted apartments.
Prosecutors provided the company a Monday afternoon deadline to make its case against being criminally charged.
On Monday, Trump attorney Ronald Fischetti claimed members of the Manhattan DA said they were considering bringing charges against the Trump Organization along with some individual employees. According to Fischetti, the charges related to tax evasion due to failing to pay taxes on corporate benefits and perks.
Fischetti bragged, “This is so small that I can’t believe I’m going to have to try a case like this.”
When asked if Trump will personally face criminal charges, Fischetti admitted, “I can’t say he’s out of the woods yet completely.”
The indictment of the Trump Organization will permanently damage the Trump brand. Trump will be unable to qualify for new loans. His current loans will be recalled. The Trump name will be taken off any property he does not own.
This is only the initial round of indictments, designed to get smaller fish to flip on bigger fish. The biggest fish is Trump.
Trump denies all wrong doing and claims this is a “witch hunt” orchestrated by “rude and nasty” prosecutors.
