We have all noticed that people are leaving Twitter in droves. I’ve seen multiple users stressing because they’re watching their follower count drop. Mine has dropped by several thousand people. I suspect it will continue to drop after the November 8 election results are in.
I said I was staying on Twitter unless Donald Trump is reinstated, I am de-boosted, or I continue to be attacked by Russian troll bots. The troll bot vitriol is exhausting. With Elon Musk reinstating Trump, CBS News has paused its posts. I am weighing my options.
Multiple advertisers have also been leaving Twitter. It’s hard to see a platform that we all loved and cherished faltering. The layoffs Elon Musk has implemented have taken away important guard rails that insured a free and fair social media platform. For example, I tried to report a white supremacist post yesterday and was told it did not violate twitters terms of service.
We have all heard about the massive layoffs on Twitter — this is leading to a lot of Russian troll bots (posing as Americans) infiltrating the site. Many people are expressing their unhappiness because they are tired of being attacked.
If you are planning to leave Twitter, please connect with me on Tribel Social @TheSizzleReport, on Counter Social @TheSizzleReport. I cannot find my account on Mastodon — the platform is divided into subsets but am @SizzleReport. If you see my account, please let me know?
REVIEWS OF ALL 3 PLATFORMS:
I’ve been on all three platforms for weeks to months — here are my opinions, so far.
One, Tribel Social is by far the easiest to use. It’s easy to find people to follow you back. It’s easy to find your Twitter friends. And, I have not run into any follow limits. Tribel seems genuinely interested in having its users connect with each other.
Fun Fact: Tribel Social ran into some issues in the past with a bizarre terms of service agreement. However, Tribel has corrected this issue and I didn’t see anything unusual in their updated terms of service. Tribel Social site is run by @OccupyDemocrats. I suspect that troll bots are pushing a negative narrative about Tribel because, of the three platforms, Tribel has the best chance to replace Twitter, in my opinion.
On Tribel Social, I was also able to form a democratic activist group (similar to what we have on Twitter) called Dems4USA. There are no extra “pro” charges to be on the Tribel site or to begin a group. You can find me @TheSizzleReport on Tribel. For those of you who are concerned about your data being sold on Tribel, consider that the Saudi‘s own Twitter along with Musk.
Two, Counter Social is also a decent platform. It also runs fairly smoothly and it’s easy to post. I found is harder to follow people and to get people to follow back. There are also multiple “pro” feature charges to do anything extra. This is a concern, because we don’t want rich people to have more influence than everyone else. Update: I have not been able to log onto CounterSocial today. It appears the site is overloaded as everyone is trying to set up their accounts.
Equality on a Social Media platform is important, so that everyone’s voice is heard. So far, I have not been able to form a democratic activist group on the Counter Social platform.
However, with some tweaks Counter Social could be a solid Twitter alternative. In my opinion, they need to get rid of the “pro“ features. I was disappointed so many things cost extra. You can find me on Counter Social @TheSizzleReport.
Fun Fact: Paying extra is why many people are leaving Twitter. They want equality on their platform.
Third, let’s discuss Mastodon. You can find me there @SizzleReport. This site also seems reputable. However, Mastodon has their platform divided into MANY sub-platforms — this is making it more difficult to connect with other people. In other words, if you’re looking for your friends on Twitter, they are much harder to find on Mastodon. Today, I cannot even find my own account. So I don’t know if I can recommend this platform.
Please let me know what you think about these three platforms in the comment section below.
Please share this with your followers and let your followers know which platform you’re planning to be on along with your username/handle. Also, keep an eye out for me — I will follow you back.
